According to Oxford’s Reuters Institute Digital News Report 2015 , 41 percent of people interviewed access news via Facebook each week. We live in an age where, according to Google CEO Eric Schmidt , “Every two days now we create as much information as we did from the dawn of civilization up until 2003.”
I had to make this interview. My media relations and outreach efforts had secured an interview with CNBC for a technology client and the reporter had flown in to conduct it in person. However, Mother Nature had other plans on that fateful morning in 2003. The reporter had flown in earlier and the interview went on as planned.
Story timelines have shifted from traditional long-lead or daily print opportunities to instantaneous news with the introduction of social as the go-to storytelling platform. The traditional cadence of pitching stories to media has even evolved as well. News breaks in a split second today and spreads instantaneously via social.
