In a wide-ranging conversation, we talked about the use of data as part of the day-to-day operations of an agency, and how agencies should think about their tech stack. We recently had a virtual sit down with Zach Silber from Kivvit to discuss the ways COVID-19 is impacting the PR industry and how agencies’ responsibilities have changed during these last 30 days. Zach is the Chief Innovation Officer at Kivvit, a national data-driven publicaffairs & strategic communications agency.
He apparently fails to understand social media’s importance for corporate affairs, corporate reputation, investor relations, human resources, CSR and crisis communications to name but a few. He might have a point if you simply look at how social media can be used for consumer marketing or customer service.

A press conference can be a risky way to convey information to the media and the public, particularly during a crisis. Unfortunately, recent history offers other examples of what not to do in a press conference after a crisis. Before crisis-related press conferences, communication rehearsals are necessary but often neglected.
