'This is the year of the selfie – which the Washington Post illustrates with some great examples. For post #11 in my 12 Days of Christmas series, I’m situating the selfie within a broader trend of 2013 – the great use of photographs by online publications (and social media) which work superbly on tablets. 'One afternoon as an undergrad at Saint Mary’s College of California, I was racing to the campus radio station where I was running late for my afternoon air-shift. As I turned the corner, I overheard the wonderful Brother Ray Berta ( RIP ) regaling one student with his latest big idea at the intersection of mass media and culture. 'Happy Friday, all! When WUL resurfaced on Monday, I told you I’d do my best to answer any questions you about about While I Was Out. You haven’t really asked me any so far – though I do appreciate the warm welcome back, and the team does too, thank you! So I figured I’d just share some of what I experienced the last several months… consider them reflections on a social media hiatus from a business point of view.
